Seamus McKiernan is a writer, producer, editor, and currently, the assistant men’s basketball coach at Caltech. With over a decade of storytelling and sports media experience, he was a founding editor of The Players’ Tribune, the award-winning digital media platform launched by Derek Jeter in 2014, and he produced well-known stories that include Kevin Love’s groundbreaking essay about mental health (“Everyone Is Going Through Something”) and Kyle Korver’s “Privileged” about race and the NBA. Additionally, he spent two years as a practice player for the WNBA’s New York Liberty.

Seamus earned his B.A. from Harvard in political science, with a special language citation in Mandarin Chinese, and wrote for the Harvard Political Review. He was captain of Harvard’s volleyball and JV basketball teams. A dual Irish-American citizen from Southern California, before college he was a standout athlete in basketball (CIF First Team) and volleyball (Volleyball Magazine’s top 50 nationally).

Seamus lives in Los Angeles with his partner, Casey, two black kittens (Gert and Fletch), one German Shepherd mutt (Luca), four basketballs of varying inflation levels and one penguin statue (2’6”).
